Global Hindu Heritage Foundation is extremely happy to inform that our Bala Samskar students learned about Sri Chittaranjan Das who fought for the Independence of India. Chittaranjan Das was born on 5 November 1870 in Calcutta, Bengal (now Kolkata), to an educated family. His father, Bhuvana Mohan Das, was a noted lawyer and author. Chittaranjan Das early education was conducted at the famous Presidency College, Kolkata. Later, he went to England and continued his education as a barrister. After studying law, he returned to India and started his law practice in Kolkata.
Chittaranjan Das made many sacrifices in the country's freedom struggle. He donated all his wealth to the national movement. Chittaranjan Das played a remarkable role in the freedom struggle with his bravery and patriotism. He was fondly called “Desbandhu” because his unwavering love and service to the people inspired everyone.
In 1907, Aurobindo Ghosh was acquitted in the Alipore Bomb Conspiracy case. He also argued the cases against Bandopadhyay and Bipin Chandrapal and earned a reputation for arguing the cases of the activists. Not only Indians but also European jurists were amazed by their acumen in arguing the cases of many hanged revolutionaries and fighting for life imprisonment or less.
The Jallianwala Bagh incident in 1919 deeply disturbed Chittaranjan Das. Chittaranjan was one of those who worked hard to bone Dyer and O'Dwyer, who were responsible for this incident. Ultimately, the British government set up the Hunter Commission to investigate the incident. Still, the British government created obstacles at every step, so the investigation could not be carried out smoothly.

Das was not only advocating the cases of freedom fighters but was also a very active participant in direct movements. Although he continued to be an active member of the National Congress Party, he resigned from the Congress Party and founded the Swaraj Party as he did not like the trend of the moderate leaders there. Recognizing the need for national education, he established the National College and appointed Netaji Bose as the first principal. Exhausted from the agitations, Das went to Darjeeling for rest and passed away there. When his body arrived in Calcutta, nearly three lakh people attended. He was a man who strongly aspired for India not only to achieve independence but also to retain its past glory and cultural legacy.

Chittaranjan Das said: "A nation that does not remember its forefathers, a nation that forgets its glorious past, has no future." A nation that abandons its moral and cultural heritage will not survive.” In the present time, Hindus are abandoning their Swadharma and embracing Paradharma, forgetting their roots, culture, customs, and traditions, and following Western culture and abandoning our Hindu Dharma. If our Hindu society does not wake up when other religions are prevailing like this, our Hindu race will not survive. Already, the Western countries have left their culture and are following that our Indian culture is great, and this is the source of the world. We Indians should also protect our Hindu culture and our Hindu Dharma by following our customs and traditions without falling into the trap of other religions.
