Acharya Peter Wilberg
“From a Hindu perspective, meditation of a ‘Murti’, whether in the form of an image, symbol or three-dimensional idol, no more negates an acknowledgement of God’s formless or invisible omnipresence in all things than does carrying round and studying an artefact of paper and ink in the form of a Holy Book such as the Bible or Koran. On the contrary, precisely by virtue of its tangible, material form, the Murti makes it easier to experience the presence of the divine in all things, to understand that things are just as much symbols of the divine as words are..”
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation is extremely happy to inform that we are conducting about 200 Bala Samskar Kendras in five States in India – Assam, Telangana, Andhra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. We have many active Hindus who are helping in different ways to ensure our children are taught about the richness of Sanatana Dharma. Each school is teaching different things and at the same time they follow the required syllabus to ensue all the students learn things that are common to all the students. It is challenging as the ages of the students varied from one school to another.
Teachers have been talking about various slokas  that have been handed over to Hindus for millennia to extol the divinity and recognize the importance of remembering the divine at various times of the day. The sloka we are going to read relates to the importance sacred waters before taking bath.
Gangge Ca Yamune Cai[a-E]va Godaavari Sarasvati |
Narmade Sindhu Kaaveri Jale-[A]smin Sannidhim Kuru ||
Meaning:
O Holy Rivers Ganga and Yamuna, and also Godavari and Saraswati,
O Holy Rivers Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri; Please be Present in this Water (and make it Holy).

An important part of ritual purification in Hinduism is the bathing of the entire body. It is considered auspicious to perform this form of purification before any festival, before visiting a temple or performing a pooja. One not only purifies one‟s body but also the mind during taking a bath. Such a purificatory bath is ultimate if it is done in the sacred waters of some great rivers of India like the river Ganga. Hence one chants of this Gange Cha Yamune chaiva shloka invoking the presence of holy waters while taking a bath.
There are massive rivers and oceans in it. Many rivers like, Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati etc have their own significance. Taking bath in these rivers is considered auspicious. So, reciting this Shloka with a sincere heart brings you the benefit of taking bath in rivers)
Significance: God has given us a beautiful life to live and has created this beautiful world. There are massive rivers and oceans in it. Many rivers like, Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Sarayu, Sindhu, etc have their own significance. Taking bath in these rivers is considered not only auspicious but also wipes out our sins. Do you know? Shri Raghavendra Swamiji, who has been in Jeeva Samadhi, is even now believed to be going to the nearby Tungabadra River for taking a holy dip during the Ushad Kaalam:-
So, reciting this Sloka with a sincere heart brings you the benefit of taking bath in these holy rivers albeit you need not be physically present there; but mentally will suffice
