"Mathematical science was so perfect and astronomical observations so complete that the paths of the sun and the moon were accurately measured. The philosophy of the learned few was perhaps for the first time, firmly allied with the theology of the believing many, and Brahmanism laid down as articles of faith the unity of God, the creation of the world, the immortality of the soul, and the responsibility of man.”
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation is very happy to participate and help Giri Prikrama pilgrims as they walk around the Mountain on which Narasimha Swamy Temple was built.
Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam is a Hindu temple situated on the Simhachalam Hill Range, which is 300 metres above the sea level in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped there as Varaha Narasimha. As per the temple's legend, Vishnu manifested in this form (lion's head and human body) after saving his devotee Prahlada from a murder attempt by the latter's father Hiranyakashipu. Except on Akshaya Trutiya, the idol of Varaha Narasimha is covered with sandalwood paste throughout the year, which makes it resemble a linga.

Giri Pradashina –Circumambulation of Simhachalam Mountain
Giripradakshina is an annual festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Ashadha month. It is based on the custom that the devotees can receive Narasimha's blessings by circumambulating around the hill on which he is seated.[85] Devotees, majority of them hailing from the countryside, observe a fast on the day and offer pradakshinas to the hill.[89] They cover a distance of 30,000 metres (98,000 ft) and pay a visit to the sanctum after which they have dinner. Those who cannot afford to walk around the hill offer 108 pradakshinas in the temple.[89] Another similar festival in Simhachalam is Grama pradakshina, where the utsava idol is taken to the villages nearby in a procession. An inscription dated 1242 AD records provision by Purushottama Nayaka for conducting this festival. Grama pradakshina is believed to be based on superstitions; people hoped that the utsava idol's entry would bring prosperity to the village and its inmates.
Parikrama is important in every religion. Pradakshina is mentioned in the Rigveda, an important Vedic text of Sanatan Dharma. Parikrama is considered an important part of worship. It is believed that by circumambulating the Lord, sins are destroyed. In Hinduism, apart from Pimple, Vatvriksha, Tulsi and other auspicious deities, Yagya, Narmada, Ganga etc. are circumambulated. Because in Sanatan Dharma, nature is also considered as God. Let us know the benefits of circumambulation, the correct direction to circumambulate and how many rounds of which deity.
Benefits of sailing and the right way
According to religious scriptures, by circumambulating the temple and God, positive energy enters the body.
Always walk clockwise around the temple. It also makes sense that we should always start walking on the right side of God.
Chanting the mantra of your favorite deity during the parikrama gives its auspicious results. or you can chant this mantra
Tani savarni nashyantu pradakshina step by step.
Meaning – With parikrama, all the sins committed consciously or unknowingly and in previous lives should be destroyed. Almighty God give me wisdom.
The Sanskrit word for circumambulation is Pradakshina. It is divided into two parts (Pra + Dakshina). Pra means to move forward and Dakshina means to worship the deities while going in the south direction i.e. south. During the parikrama, the Lord is seated on our right side in the sanctum sanctorum.
