Dallas Forth Worth, TX: Shivaji Maharaj Antar-Rashtriya Parivaar (SMAP) celebrated Shiv Jayanti festival with a Tribute to our national heroes on Saturday, March 4th, 2023. Tribute was paid to heroes with Deep Prajwalan, Mantra-Shankh-Naad, followed by Lazim, Powada, Ganesh and Saraswathi Vandana.

2.    Ghar Waapasi in Medak District in Telangana – 14 Families returned to Hindu Dharma. (March 11)
Lakshmi Nivas and his associates welcomed 14 Christians from Medak District back to Hindu Dharma. Six families used to go to BM Church, four families to Prardhan Church, and four to Calvary Church.   They talked about the tactics they used in converting people and how they induce people to convert to Christianity. Many converts expressed their own experience of being pressured into accepting Christianity and how it created fear in them. Jesus says one cannot love his parents more than Jesus.

3.    Bala Samskar Kendras – Students learned about Paramahamsa Yogananda, his life and his mission in USA. (March 12)
Teachers taught about the life, the spiritual journey, the establishment Self Realization Fellowship, writing of Autobiography of a Yogi, and the propagation of Kriya Yoga.
Yogananda was born in Gorakhpur, Bengal in 1893. Originally his name was Mukunda Lal Ghosh. He was given the name of Yogananda after his initiation as an Indian Swami (monk).

4.    Ashes of John Merwin Fritz, a London-based archaeologist, immersed in the Tungabhadra waters at Hampi March 09, 2023 09:36 pm | Updated 09:36 pm IST – KALABURAGI (March 12)
The ashes (asthi) of John Merwin Fritz, an 83-year-old London-based archaeologist and anthropologist, who died in London on January 23 this year, were, as per his wishes, immersed in the Tungabhadra waters at Hampi on Sunday. Fritz was an internationally acclaimed archaeological researcher who made notable contribution to research on the great imperial city of Vijayanagara.

The celebration of Holi is very ancient in origin. It celebrates the ultimate triumph of "good" over "evil". While a feast of colors is associated with Holi the original reason for celebrating Holi lies in the soul of the festival. Literally "Holi" is the Hindi word meaning "burning" in the Hindi language. How it became associated with "burning" is a myth. The reference is found in ancient Indian Mythology.

Shiva Parvati Kalyanam is the marriage ceremony of the divine couple. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per the legend, Lord Vishnu performed Kalyna Daanam of Parvati  to Lord Shiva. As per one legend that Parvati fell in love with Shiva and try to find a wat to marry him. She used to keep thinking of him all the time. She talked to Narada that Shiva is pleased with Tapasy only.

7.    Bala Samskar Kendras in Tamil Nadu – Students performed Hayagriva Puja, learned about Stotram and its benefits ahead of Annual Examinations (March 17)

In Tamil Nadu, people have a tradition of performing Hayagriva Puja for his blessings to pass the final exams. Chanting Hayagriva Mantra is believed to bestow siddhi power, excellent memory, and power of speech. Chanting of Hayagriva Beej Mantra on Hayagriva Jayanthi grants clarity of thoughts, memory power, excellence in arts, career growth, material abundance, prosperity, and improved intelligence.

9.    Bala Samskar Kendras – Students learned from Vemana’s Poem the virtue that distinguishes Salt and Camphor although both are white.

Vemana is the pen name of the Telugu-language poet, singer, and philosopher Kumaragiri Vema Reddy. He was born in 1530 to a Brahmin family in what is now known as Annavaram, near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Vemana's poems are written in fluent Telugu with heavy usage of vernaculars. This has made the poems difficult to translate into any other language. His poems are deep and meaningful and he uses metaphors and similes in his work. Some of Vemana's most famous poems are "Kamsa", "Tirukkurraluve", "Ammi Thalluni Akka Akka" and "Ola ikku."
