Visakhapatnam, Apr 20: Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister J C Diwakar Reddy today said there was nothing wrong in selling the vacant temple lands.

Talking to newspersons after offering prayers at Sri Varahanrusimha Swamy temple here on the occasion of 'Chandanotsavam,' he said the government had decided to auction the lands as the Endownment department was not generating any income from it.

Stating that the department was facing an uphill task to safeguard the temple lands, the Minister said the money garnered from the sale would be deposited in the banks to provide better facilities to the devotees visiting the shrine.

The Simhachalam Devasthanam officials have prepared a plan to auction 400 acres of temple lands, he added.
